Collection: LACE FRONT WIGS

Volure's lace front wigs are an excellent choice for getting that stylish natural look on a budget.  Our lace front wigs (also known as lace front weaves) are cheaper than full lace wigs, but use only quality virgin remy hair, the highest quality hair available.

What Is a Lace Front Wig?

Lace wigs are among the most popular type of wigs you can buy.  For a long time lace wigs were extremely expensive and only celebs and other well-off women could afford them. These days a lace wig or lace weave is more affordable, looks more realistic, and last longer than the lace wigs of old.  A lace weave will give you the freedom to experiment with a wide range of different looks quickly and with no commitment.  Whether you want a straight or curly or wavy or long or short look, lace wigs are an excellent choice.  Some of our clients go for lace wigs simply because it gives their hair a break from weaves and other hair extensions.

Within the lace wig family, you have full lace wigs and lace front wigs.  All lace weaves or lace wigs have hair sewn onto a sheer lace material that matches the scalp of the wearer.  This provides for a very natural look and gives the impression that you are not wearing a wig at all.  However, different from full lace wigs, lace front wigs are made with the lace cap only on the front part of the wig. The back part of the wig is made of hair sewn onto tracks, like a weave would be sewn onto your cornrows. Because of this, the styling options are a bit limited with lace front wigs.  For example with a lace front wig, you won't be able to wear a high ponytail, but you get significantly more value for money.  When installed and worn correctly, lace front wigs are just as seamless and undetectable as full lace wigs.

Best Lace Wigs Are Lace Front Wigs

So why is a lace front considered the best type of lace wig? Among the most important reasons are durability and lower cost.  A lace front weave is significantly more durable than full lace wigs.  This is because with a lace front, the most fragile part of the wig is only in the front section.  So as the lace wig ages and sheds, repairing it is much easier than with full lace wigs.  On top of being durable (and having a lower maintenance cost), lace front wigs also have a lower upfront purchase price. For these reasons we strongly recommend clients consider a lace front as an option.  Volure regularly makes lace front weaves for customers to meet specific requirements.  All of the above is not to say that full lace wigs should not be worn at all.  Simply that a full lace wig requires greater care than a lace front.

Although a lace front weave is more affordable than a full lace wig, it still gives a very realistic appearance.  As noted above, the hair strands are attached to the lace portion of the wig cap. This lace portion (at the crown of the head) is where people normally look and the lace material used in this section is purposely made to resemble the wearer's scalp.  It's important that the lace material on your lace front is matched closely to your skin complexion. This is because the closer the lace colour to your skin tone the more natural the lace front weave and installation will look. Lace colours are typically transparent, light brown, medium brown, or dark brown. Please consult with us to determine what colour best matches your skin tone.

Different Hair Types Used in a Lace Front Weave

A front lace weave can come in a variety of hair types and hair styles. Among the different front lace weaves, Brazilian hair lace front wigs are arguably the most sought after.  Brazilian hair lace front wigs owe their popularity to Brazilian hair itself.  Brazilian hair is known to suit a range of styles and looks. It is neither too thin (like Indian hair) nor too thick (like Peruvian hair), but is both full bodied and easy to style.  Whether you are getting a Brazilian hair lace front wig or another hair type, the key thing to look for is hair that is virgin and has never been processed.  This means the hair is very healthy and natural, which not only makes it look great but guarantees that the hair lasts as long as possible.  Avoid front lace weaves with low quality processed hair at all costs.

At Volure we only sell front lace weaves with virgin hair, whether it be Brazilian, Peruvian, Indian or Malaysian.  We go a step further and ensure that we only provide lace front wigs with baby hair.  In other words all our lace weaves have baby hair around the perimeter of the wig (as your own scalp does).  What the baby hair does is first make the wig look natural, but also conceals the edges of the wig which may have been trimmed (e.g. at the front where the excess lace material must be cut).  Volure's lace front wigs with baby hair are the ultimate in giving a seamless, natural and clean look.

No matter what lace front you get, just make sure it is a human hair lace front wig.  There are synthetic lace front wigs out there, but they generally look very plastic (because they are).  If you can afford it, invest in a human hair lace front wig, even if the hair is not virgin (but as long as it's of high quality).  Human hair lace front wigs look better but most importantly can help you achieve different hairstyles.  There are tons of lace front weave hairstyles you can get if you have a quality lace wig.  Most clients don't realise that you don't need to stick with the out of the box hairstyle. From short to curly to ombre to pixie the available lace front weave hairstyles are practically limitless. Aside from hairstyles, human hair lace front wigs also last significantly longer than the synthetic or synthetic blend versions.

Getting Affordable Lace Front Wigs

There are many women out there who believe there is no such thing as affordable lace front wigs.  In fact, they are far from the truth.  We believe that we offer some of the most affordable lace front wigs in South Africa.  But if as a client, the prices still seem steep, there are tricks to bring down the cost even more.  The first thing in getting an affordable lace front wig is to go for low to medium density wigs.  These are wigs with densities from 130 to 135.  Once you get to a density of 150 which is quite thick, the cost rises significantly.  The other trick is to go for shorter length, a 16 inch lace front wig sometimes looks like an 18-20 inch weave!  Most women wearing lace front wigs are typically very busy professional women, a lifestyle that lends itself to short wigs.  A lot of our clients get 12 to 14 inch lace fronts and are perfectly happy.  On your quest for affordability, do not buy cheap lace front wigs.  There is a reason why they are cheap. Cheap lace front wigs will begin falling apart as soon as you leave the shop.  Invest a bit in a quality lace wig, but know the tricks to make them affordable so as to ensure that you are getting and paying only for what you need. If you have any questions about how to choose the right lace front, don't hesitate to give us a call or send us an email at sales@volure.co.za.
